Meaning of Paddle Design: The turtle represents Turtle Island, the land of our People, and the four colours de sacred hoop’s four directions. The Tiny White dots marking the lines of the four directions and all ridges honour the Aboriginal Children who never returned from the Indian residential Schools

Artist Biography: An Algonquin-Métis artist, traditional artisan, author and historian, Karole Dumont was born in mattawa, where she spent most of her life, and raised her family with her husband of 37 years, Glen Becket. Now living in Orleans where they both retired, Karole continues her work among the Aboriginal peoples, while writing Canadian Aboriginal and historical novels.
